Today we took notes on Ancient Greece. Ancient Greece was surrounded by many, many small islands. Greece was also very mountainous. It was easier to sail from one side of Greece to the other even though it was a farther distance than moving by land. Mediterranean mean two different things. MEDI means "middle" and TERRA means "earth". When you put them together you get "middle of the earth". Athens and Sparta were two different places in Greece but the were isolated away from each other so they were not friendly with each other.
