Today in class, we learned the new slides that Mr. Schick put on his powerpoint. They compared Ancient Rome and the U.S.A. government. They both contained three branches; Legislative, Judicial, and Executive. They were pretty similar. The main differences were the amount of terms a person could serve and also how long the terms were. There were also a few other small changes between the olden day and today.

An aqueduct is a conduit or artificial channel for conducting water from a distance, usually by means of gravity. This should be a fun project and I hope to do well.

Today we took notes on Ancient Greece. Ancient Greece was surrounded by many, many small islands. Greece was also very mountainous. It was easier to sail from one side of Greece to the other even though it was a farther distance than moving by land. Mediterranean mean two different things. MEDI means "middle" and TERRA means "earth". When you put them together you get "middle of the earth". Athens and Sparta were two different places in Greece but the were isolated away from each other so they were not friendly with each other.

Today we watched a movie called "Guns, Germs, and Steel". This movie was about the people in Papua New Guinea. These people have not advanced with other civilizations and still do hunting and gathering. It is very unique to see that on country can remain the same for thousands of years when the rest of the world is changing dramatically.
